Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is hoping to save the pockets of taxpayers by employing a new rule to the Affordable Care Act. "The Affordable Care Act substantially reformed Medicaid payments for prescription drugs, increasing rebates and setting limits on federal reimbursements.  The “Covered Outpatient Drugs” final rule ensures those reforms will be effectively implemented by providing further detail on how those reimbursements and rebates are calculated, part of CMS’ broader efforts to help ensure affordability and accessibility of prescription drugs, while supporting pharmaceutical innovation..." Medical Equipment Request Pre-approval Process Changes

Medicare will be making some changes to it's medical equipment request program in hopes, they say, to reduce questionable medical claims. "Critics say the new policy will bog down the process for getting oxygen, power wheelchairs and a variety of other supplies to patients – items they need to keep from being readmitted to the hospital. But citing years of abuse from inflated claims, Medicare anticipates savings from the initiative of $10 million in 2016, rising to $100 million by 2025, without hurting patient care..."
